Start a Mini Business Learning Week (Ages 10–14)
Details
From an idea to a product ready to sell, this is real-world learning in action.
Start a Mini Business is a hands-on 3-day learning experience designed to build entrepreneurial thinking, independence and confidence through creating a mini business from the ground up.
Rather than sitting down to “do maths” or complete a business worksheet, learners use maths, literacy, creativity, digital skills and problem-solving naturally as they develop a product idea, research competitors, calculate costs, set a price, create branding and build their own product listing.
Across the three days, your learner will:
- Choose something they could sell
- Research similar products and competitors
- Think about who their customer might be
- Calculate the approximate cost to make their product
- Set a realistic selling price
- Calculate profit per sale
- Explore potential profit from multiple sales
- Create a business name and simple brand identity
- Photograph their product
- Write a clear product description
- Create a finished mock product listing
- Build confidence turning an idea into a real-world project
The business does not need to actually launch or make real sales. The goal is to experience the planning, creativity, financial thinking and decision-making involved in turning an idea into something someone could buy.
